1 MNF Bet To Consider & 1 To Avoid ️
Eagles-Cowboys on Monday Night Football? Hell yeah! Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts are poised to give us the matchup of the week, with Dallas (-3.5) favored by slightly more than a field goal over Philly.
All eyes will be on the QB matchup as Hurts showed up and showed out over the first two weeks, throwing for 454 yards and three touchdowns without an interception and rushing for 144 yards and one score. The Eagles are 1-1, tied with the Cowboys. A divisional win could be the key to a playoff spot down the line.
History isn’t on Philly’s side in this one, though. Since Prescott became the Cowboys starter five years ago, Dallas is 11-4 against the spread (ATS) when hosting a divisional opponent.
Taking it a step further, the Cowboys are 8-1 in games they’re favored by three or more points in. The Eagles have slumped on the road in that same span, going 6-9 ATS against divisional opponents, and 1-4 as underdogs by at least three points.
A better wager to consider is the over/under for the game, set at 51.5. That’s the highest line for a Philly game to date, and probably dictated by a combination of the Cowboys’ 49 total points scored in two weeks, the Eagles putting up 32 points in Week 1 against the lowly Falcons, and the Achilles rupture suffered by Philly’s Pro Bowl DE Brandon Graham.
In four games this season, the sportsbooks have heavily over-estimated the total scores of Eagles and Cowboys games. The teams hold a 1-3 over-under record combined. Aside from the Cowboys hitting the over in Week 1 by 7.5 points, Dallas went under by 18 points in Week 2, and the Eagles were under by 10.5 points in Week 1 and 21 points in Week 2.

The Takeaway 🎲
While it might feel right to bet on the fun, overperforming 23-year-old, there’s little evidence to suggest siding with Hurts and the Eagles is the smart choice. Instead, consider taking the under with the sportsbooks predicting a shootout that could fall flat.

How CFB National Championship Odds Changed After Week 1 🔮
Trending Up: Kyler Murray (+1950 → +675) ⬆ ️
Every week we’re reminded more and more that Murray is THAT guy. He’s thrown for an unreal 689 yards (2nd-most in the NFL) in his first two games for seven touchdowns. He’s completed 73.5% of his throws and rushed for a pair of TDs, too. He can do it all!
️Trending Down: Aaron Rodgers (+1000 → +1400) ⬇
Rodgers recovered from a downright UGLY Week 1, scoring four touchdowns without an interception in a 35-17 victory over the Lions. Still, last year’s MVP’s chances of a repeat are trending in the wrong direction. If you believe Week 2 was a more accurate indicator of this Packers team, consider buying low.
Trending Up: Matt Stafford (+1750 → +1100) ⬆
The Rams’ offense is on fire and off to a 2-0 start, largely due to Stafford. He’s thrown for 599 yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception. Sometimes, all you need is a fresh start.
It’s a pretty safe bet to say the Alabama Crimson Tide will earn a victory on Saturday against the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. The overwhelming No. 1 college football team in the nation and defending national champion Crimson Tide are a heavy favorite, led by Nick Saban, with a winning record longer than your quarantine grocery list.
But is it safe to say that Alabama will cover the massive 45-point spread, which means they’ll have to win by 46 or more points? (Holy moly!)
This season the Tide are 3-0, but just 1-2 against the spread. That’s in part because Alabama is averaging 24 points in the first half, but lifting their foot off the gas a bit in the second, averaging a mere 13.5 points.
In a Week 2 gimme game against Mercer, the Crimson Tide scored just 17 points in the second half after scoring 17 in the second quarter alone. A 48-14 win came nowhere close to a 53.5-point spread.
This is a common trend for Alabama. In 2020, the team’s first-half average was 29.4 points, compared to 19.1 in the second half. And in 2019, the Tide averaged 26.8 points in the first half, against 18.9 second-half points. They’re so good that the second half doesn’t always matter much.
If you don’t feel comfortable betting on Bama for a whopping 46-point dub, –check out the -28.5 first-half spread for the home team at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Term of the Day 📚
Tip of the day
Expect Alabama to come off hot at home, especially after a narrow victory over Miami last week on the road. The Tide will want to assert their dominance quickly, then get comfortable late, making a halftime prop bet the safer play.

Week 2 featured all sorts of dances in the endzone:
The Minnesota Vikings receivers are known for loving the Griddy (well, Justin Jefferson knows how to break it down), but Adam Theilen has certainly come a long way.
Wait a minute, is that Baby Yoda? Or Kyler Murray? You decide.
Oh man, this one didn’t age well. Kansas City’s Byron Pringle taunted the Ravens with his Ray Lewis celebration before the Chiefs fell to Baltimore.
Hey Darnold! 🏈 Talk about a change of scenery doing some good. Sam Darnold’s success is off the charts in Carolina! After enacting revenge over his former New York Jets team – that must have felt great – to dominating a Saints defense that wreaked havoc over Aaron Rodgers and the pack in Week 1, Sammy is shining in year three.
Bills Blowout 😱
Buffalo overwhelmed its division-rival Miami in a 35-0 shallaking. The Bills’ defense deserves the most praise. They finished with six sacks, 11 quarterback hits, nine tackles for loss and three takeaways. The win marked the Bills’ first shutout since 2016 and tied their largest margin of victory in the past 25 seasons.
Calling Out Coaches 🗣
All the wild action wasn’t solely on the gridiron this week. From Green Bay’s Matt LaFleur almost wiping out after attempting to celebrate a BIG TIME fourth down stop with cornerback Eric Stokes – whoops! To Baltimore’s John Harbaugh giving play-calling duties to his QB Lamar Jackson in a critical fourth down situation – wow! And Bill Belichick continuing to feast on rookie QBs – sorry, Zach, it really isn’t you.
Prayers Up 🙏
It was a brutal Sunday for starting quarterbacks in the league. Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa, Indianapolis' Carson Wentz, Chicago's Andy Dalton and Houston’s Tyrod Taylor exited with injuries. Cleveland’s Baker Mayfield and Las Vegas’ Derek Carr were also shaken up, but both ultimately returned to earn Week 2 wins. We hope they’re all healthy and back in action this week.
